Taking a cue from Leroy Anderson (who famously wrote Sleigh Ride during a heat wave in July), En hiver (“In Winter”) was written during the first few days of July. Similar in tone and tempo to John Williams’s Schindler’s List, the piece features challenging solo parts for violin and cello that are similar in style to pop violinist Lindsey Stirling. Grade 4.
